Marcus Rashford has missed out on a place in Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United matchday squad for the Premier League trip to Bournemouth.

Rashford, 25, was a surprise doubt for the fixture on Friday when Ten Hag revealed the forward had been suffering with illness.

Rashford previously missed the win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend due to a leg injury, but had recovered from that problem and had trained for most of the week.

On Rashford missing out, Ten Hag told the BBC before the game: “It’s not about the players who are not available. Nottingham Forest away without Marcus, we won. Last week against Wolves, also without Marcus, we won.”

Rashford has been one of United’s most important players this season. The England international has scored 29 goals across all competitions and is the club’s top scorer.

Following the Bournemouth match, United host Chelsea on Thursday before finishing the Premier League season against Fulham at home on Sunday. Ten Hag’s side then face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on June 3.
