The iPhone 15 Pro Max might not actually be called that, according to a new rumor. Instead, it’s been claimed that the iPhone 15 Ultra name will be used as was first suggested almost a year ago.

The rumor originally came from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in September 2022 when he said that the iPhone 15 Pro Max would be replaced by the iPhone 15 Ultra.

Since then it’s a name that has gone by the wayside, with most people referring to the high-end flagship model as the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

But now a new report by AppleInsider’s Andrew O’Hara claims that iPhone 15 Ultra is back in the mix.

Here’s a late Friday tidbit I’ve heard for #iPhone15. Multiple sources have told me Apple will indeed use the “iPhone 15 Ultra” monicker for the plus-sized pro phone. This was an early rumor that got backpedaled. Most have since referred to it as iPhone 15 Pro Max.

It remains to be seen how accurate this is of course, but it could fit in with Apple’s ongoing desire to further differentiate the iPhone 15 Pro Max from the iPhone 15 Pro. Apart from a larger display, this year’s biggest model is expected to gain unique camera capabilities thanks to the use of a periscope lens system.

We won’t have to wait too long to find out what name Apple will go with, thankfully. The new iPhones are all expected to be announced during an event next month.
