Daniel Garcia moved to 8-0 (6 KOs) with a fantastic knockout of Daniel Lugo on Saturday night in Arizona.
On the undercard of Jaime Munguia’s clash with John Ryder, the 22-year-old super-featherweight prospect made his latest step up in style.
Garcia made his pro boxing debut in 2021.
However he boxed just twice that year and once in 2022.
Last year he finally got his career properly motoring with four wins and is looking to build on this experience in 2024.
On Saturday night, he did exactly that with a highlight-reel knockout.
Garcia was simply too good for Lugo and proved it in the very first round.
One single right hand connected clean and Lugo dropped to the canvas, slumped in a heap.
He attempted bravely to return to his feet, but alas his senses had been scrambled by the punch and he was unable to do so.
As a result, the referee ended the fight and Garcia was declared the victor by KO1.
As soon as the punch landed, one commentator reacted: “He’s done.”
While the other added: “He’s not getting up.”
One fan commented: “Wow is one of the best KO for the year.”
While a second added: “What a knockout!”
And a third fan said: “Damn, his legs went to jelly.”
