Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann has revealed he is willing to sign a contract to jump back into club football ahead of Euro 2024.

This summer’s European Championships will be hosted by Germany, who have a great chance of securing continental glory for the first time since 1996.

They will be led into the tournament by Nagelsmann, who replaced Hansi Flick in the dugout back in September on a deal until the end of Euro 2024.

Though there has been talk of Nagelsmann staying in his current job on a longer-term deal, he has admitted he would like to return to club management and would be willing to give up his post-Euros break to get back into the game.

“If I have a contract offer before the Euros that I’m satisfied with and that makes me feel comfortable, then the likelihood of me signing it before the Euros is high,” Nagelsmann said after confirming his sqaud for the March internationals.

“Currently, I don’t have anything on the table. Therefore, I can’t answer the question. The likelihood of something happening before the Euros is there, but as of now, there’s also a chance that nothing will happen.”

90min understands Nagelsmann is a contender to take the Liverpool job once Jurgen Klopp leaves the club, though Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso remains the frontrunner. He has also been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund by the German press.

Speaking on these links to Dortmund, Nagelsmann added: “You’ll have to ask Dortmund, not me.”

Nagelsmann was sacked by Bayern Munich in March 2023 to the shock of German football, with the club still competing for a treble at the time. Under the management of Thomas Tuchel, Bayern just about retained the Bundesliga on the final day of the season thanks to a last-gasp Jamal Musiala goal secured a win at Koln while Dortmund threw away the title with a draw to Mainz. The Bavarians also came up short in the Champions League and DFB Pokal.
