Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness confirmed that centre Mark Scheifele will miss Game 5 of his team’s first round series against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The 30-year-old was considered hopeful to play despite leaving Game 4 after taking a shot. A decision on his status has not yet been made for a potential Game 6 but the Jets will need to cope with his absence in a must-win Game 5.

Forward Nikolaj Ehlers is considered a game-time decision, according to Bowness. The Dane, who suffered an upper-body injury at the end of the regular season, took part in morning skate on Wednesday.

The Jets will look to extend their season in Game 5 on Thursday. The game will be available on Sportsnet and SN NOW beginning at 10 p.m. ET/ 9 p.m. CT.
