Insulin is a hormone that most people don’t pay much attention until they experience problems such as diabetes to gaining weight. Therefore, it is essential to familiarize yourself with how insulin works within the body if you are struggling with weight loss and hope to cripple its ability to make you fat.

Since the pancreas is responsible for creating insulin from its beta cells and the hub for its storage, it only makes sense to consider the foods that you eat. The enzymes in the pancreas break down the starches, carbohydrates and sugars in the intestines. As a result, the pancreas takes it as a cue to release insulin for maintaining muscle activity and optimal liver function. However, problems occur when those enzymes in the pancreas that regulates blood sugar levels dramatically increase or dip too low.

For instance, overindulging your sweet tooth causes the endocrine cells in the pancreas to the release more insulin than needed into the blood. Unfortunately, the body is overwhelmed by such a large quantity. What happens is this excess sugar ends up in storage as fat cells.

The trick to have insulin succeed for weight loss is by learning how to better regulate it to keep it low. For this purpose, you may want to start cutting down on eating too many carbohydrates, sugars and starches to keep blood sugar levels more stable. Moderation is more the key.

You also may want to consider the benefits of a low-glycemic diet to more ideally balance blood sugar levels and improve overall health.

Something else that helps is avoiding snacking on carbohydrates too close to bedtime that could turn into fat later. Instead, you might want to replace that choice with protein that will not disturb belly fat metabolism or whole-body fat burn according to experts.

Believe it or not, the numbers of hours that you sleep also play a part in how insulin and weight loss go hand in hand. If you get less than six hours of sleep then you are playing a dangerous game due to how blood sugar levels spike from insulin secretion. Aim for at least to eight hours of sleep to avoid that weight gain.

Last but not least is the important of moderate exercise like walking or biking that can help the body burn the sugars sooner than later to prevent that fat storage from insulin.
