It is said that in life, if you want to succeed, you have to have a dream and you need to work on it. But what if you’re lazy but you still have a dream – can you still succeed in life?
Well, that’s something that one guy in Olongapo managed to do, though he’s not really as lazy as he might first appear to be.
Meet Ako si Mon, The “Lazy” Entrepreneur with a Dream
With the tagline “Ako si Mon, tamad ako pero may pangarap ako,” a young man from Olongapo City is slowly making waves online as a digital creator.
But more than being just another random vlogger, Mon Ivan Mendoza is also becoming an inspiration to other young people who are still unsure of what they really want to achieve in life.
Still a student, Mon was able to open a coffee shop he named Ordinario Cold Brew with the help of a friend who lent him Php15,000 as capital.
Surprisingly, Mon isn’t taking up a business-related course but is actually a Communications student.
Also, he doesn’t even drink coffee!
Still, he decided on a cold brew business because he realized that it was popular.
Though he experienced many challenges while starting up, including losing stocks from spoilage, he refused to give up.
Not-So-Lazy Mon
While his tagline boasts of being lazy, this young man is actually quite impressive and hardworking.
He admits to having had “rackets” or side jobs since he was just 14 years old. Some of the jobs he’s tried:
- Football coach
- Phone photographer
- Entrepreneur (buy and sell)
- Painter
- Food delivery rider
Now, he isn’t just a coffee seller but also a content creator. He has also launched his own clothing line. Wow.
His videos went viral because many people can relate to them – and sparked a trend of people making videos about their day (just like what Mon does) but telling their audience that they aren’t Mon.
