The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation allows the subscribers to check their balance in the Employees’ Provident Fund accounts through its e-passbook facility on its website. Apart from the official website of EPFO, there are many other ways through which EPF subscribers can check their balance.
Every month, a portion of an employee’s basic salary and dearness allowance is deducted towards EPF and an equal amount is contributed by the employer. This savings helps employees during their retirement days.
Here are the ways for the employees to keep a track of their EPF balance:
EPFO’s official website
You can check your EPF account balance using your active Universal Account Number (UAN) issued by the EPFO. Follow these steps to check the balance in your EPF account:
Step 1: Open EPFO employee’s portal. Select Member Passbook under the Services section.
Step 5: Log in using your UAN and password.
Step 6: After logging in, the account balance will appear on the screen.
Employees can also check their EPF balance by using the UMANG application, also known as the m-Sewa application of EPFO.
Step 1: Open the UMANG app on your device, and on the homepage, click on the “EPFO” option.
Step 2: Tap on the “Member” option, followed by the “Balance/Passbook” option.
Step 3: Now, enter your UAN and registered mobile number.
Step 4: After OTP verification, the updated EPF balance will appear on the screen.
Other ways to check your EPF balance
Apart from using the EPFO official portal and UMANG app, one can also use SMS or missed calls to check their balance in the EPF account.
The EPF subscribers can also check their account balance by sending an SMS to 7738299899. The text message should be in this format: “EPFOHO-UAN (language code).” In the place of language code, you can write “ENG” if their preferred language is English, or write “HIN” for Hindi. Also, one can opt for other languages like TAM (Tamil), MAR (Marathi), or BEN (Bengali).
One can check their EPF balance by simply giving a missed call to 011-22901406 using the registered mobile number. It is important that an employee’s UAN number be linked with their KYC details to use this service. After giving a missed call on the said number, the EPF balance will come in a message format, containing all the details along with the balance amount.
